In the late 19th through the first quarter of the 20th century Mount Pleasant was everything it’s name implied. The street runs from Clay Street and terminates at Mount Pleasant cemetery. Lined with gracious frame homes and solid brick row houses it was a fine residential street. In later years abandonment neglect and the general economic decline of the area left much of the street devoid of housing. The post card included in this post perfectly captures the past beauty of this street.
