Orange Street was the commercial heart of the Roseville neighborhood. The post card in this blog dates from 1923 based on the release date of the Jackie Coogan film ,Circus Days, on the marquee of the Tivoli Theater. The Tivoli was an 1800 seat theater constructed in 1921. The theater featured live entertainment as well as movies. The frame building adjacent to the Tivoli had an ice cream parlor on the first floor. The street was clearly bustling.
When New Community Corporation demolished the Tivoli to build an apartment tower,
a wall of the theater collapsed and killed two elderly women who were working in their yard adjacent to the theater.
