A previous blog discussed Minsky’s Burlesque at the Adam’s Theater. This program from January 18th, 1957 is for the Empire Theater their main competitor. Quite tame by today’s standards – it was quite risqué in 1957. In February of 1957 Minsky’s Burlesque closed at the Adams. Shortly thereafter The Empire Burlesque would follow. Outlawed and no longer acceptable, the City of Newark brought down the final curtain.
