This lovely celluloid book mark measures less than 3 1/2 inches in height. It is made of celluloid, a precursor of plastic, that had the color and grain of ivory. Whitehead & Hoag were masters of that medium and made many items from it. The book mark illustrated here was a sample sent to a prospective customer. “Advertising Novelties with Merit”. Indeed !
